Enapter and DRIFT Energy Sign Partnership for Offshore Green Hydrogen Production
Enapter and DRIFT Energy Ltd have signed a new partnership in Pisa to advance offshore hydrogen production. The collaboration combines DRIFT's energy-harvesting sailing vessels with Enapter's scalable AEM technology to enable green hydrogen production at sea.
DRIFT Energy CEO Ben Medland visited Enapter in Pisa to formally sign a new partnership agreement with CEO Jürgen Laakmann.
But the visit was about more than a signing ceremony. During a tour of Enapter's production facilities and discussions with the team, both companies explored how offshore renewable energy and hydrogen production can be combined in a scalable and commercially viable way.
DRIFT Energy is developing energy-harvesting sailing vessels designed to capture wind energy at sea and convert it directly into green hydrogen.
Enapter's modular and scalable AEM technology is intended to support hydrogen production onboard these vessels, providing a flexible solution for offshore applications. More than 30 vessels are already part of DRIFT Energy's development pipeline.
The discussions highlighted a strong alignment between DRIFT's vision for offshore energy generation and Enapter's approach to scalable hydrogen production.
Ben's visit marked an important milestone for both companies – and the beginning of a collaboration focused on bringing innovative hydrogen production concepts closer to commercial deployment.
